Open Lab runs studies in the browser. Some designs need the participant’s smartphone instead, such as experience sampling, where people answer short surveys several times a day in their daily lives. SMAAT, from the same team, covers these: researchers build the study on the web, and participants take part through the SMAAT app for iOS and Android. SMAAT uses its own account, separate from Open Lab.
