Concepts

The life of a Study.

A Study moves through defined statuses — from first draft to archived record. Each status controls visibility, editing, and whether participants can join.

Status flow

Draft

Initial development. Visible only via direct link; participants can already join using the link.

In Review

Submitted for validation/approval. Limited editing; participants can still join using the link.

Active

Publicly visible and open for participant enrollment; data collection is ongoing.

Completed

Data collection ended. No new participants can join; existing data are available for analysis.

Paused

Temporarily suspended. Participants cannot join while paused; existing data are preserved and the study can be resumed.

Archived

Closed. Participants cannot join; no further changes, retained only for records.

Draft

Participants can join early

Studies in Draft and In Review are already accessible via direct link — useful for piloting before going public.

  • Not publicly listed until Active
  • Share the link to let early participants join
  • Full editing still available in Draft
Active

Pause without losing data

Active studies can be paused at any time. All collected data is preserved and the study can be resumed.

  • No new participants while paused
  • Existing session data is fully preserved
  • Resume returns the study to Active
Closed

Data outlasts the study

Completed and Archived studies no longer accept participants, but all collected data remains available for analysis and export.

  • Export data at any point after completing
  • Archived studies are retained for records
  • No further edits after archiving
